Benefit Dinner : Rare Opportunity to Enjoy Vermont's Wild Food

On June 1st, 2002, at the Albany Methodist Church on Route 14 in Albany, Vermont, the Northeast Kingdom Mushroom Society is offering a wild foods dinner.  A selection of appetizers, salads, an entree and dessert will be prepared by some of Vermont's top professional chefs.  Fiddleheads, wild greens and ramps (leeks), pheasant back mushrooms and wild ginger root sauce are a few of the things you may receive on your plate as you dine that evening.  Roasted Sirloin of Beef with Pheasant Back Mushroom-Marsala Sauce and Fresh Pasta Primavera with Wild Mushroom Medley are the featured entrees.  Experts, committed to harvesting responsibly are in charge of collecting all of the wild edibles.  They make sure to leave plenty of healthy specimens so that plant groups will be vital and available for generations to come.

If you've always wanted to taste samples of the bounty found growing in our woods and fields without the help of human cultivation, or are already a connoisseur of these seasonal treats, this will be a delightful evening for you.  Tickets are $20 per setting, $10 for children under 12.  Advance purchase is highly recommended, as seating is limited.  Please reserve your tickets by no later than May 28th and indicate whether you would like to dine at the 6:00 p.m. or 7:00 p.m. seating.  That is, groups will begin to be seated at 6:00 p.m. and at 7:00 p.m. and will proceed as places at the tables are available.  (This means you might not begin going through the buffet line exactly on the hour.)  We cannot guarantee availability of tickets at the door.

Proceeds will be used to organize a unique multi-day Mushroom Festival this fall, the first weekend of October.  It will be an educational, enjoyable event for all ages.  For more information, log on to
